Express repair of extruder gearbox The express repair of an extruder gearbox (third-party gearbox) in the main production line of a renowned German animal feed manufacturer shortens production downtimes.
An inspection of the gearbox at Kachelmann revealed that
- Gear parts and shafts need to be reworked
- Rebuild the spur gear of the input stage
- Replace roller bearings and sealing elements
- Replace input shaft
- Final assembly
- Test run
The team only had 7 days to complete the work, including the production of the case-hardened, flank-ground individual parts and assembly.
The deadline was met and the overhauled gearbox was able to resume production before the final deadline.
Rapid error analysis, rush production and, last but not least, efficient throughput in production and administration helped our customer to minimise the costs of the failure.
