Project description:
The Borgward B 2000 A is used by a volunteer fire brigade. The transmission showed a high noise level, the first gear was difficult to shift.
Spare parts were no longer to be found on the free market.
After the complete disassembly it became visible that one gear showed strong wear marks. Reworking was no longer possible. The remaining internal parts and the housing itself were in a surprisingly good condition. Therefore only the defective gearing was turned off and fitted with a new hardened pinion ground in the tooth flanks and not the complete shaft was replaced.
Especially for oldtimer lovers it is very important that as many original parts of the vehicle as possible are preserved. All gaskets, sealing rings, feather keys and screws were renewed. Then the gearbox was mounted, primed and painted after a successful test run.
