The handling systems secure the helicopters after landing and pull them from the landing grid into the hangar. The handling system is a custom designed gearbox made by KACHELMANN GETRIEBE, which not only applies the tensile force, but only guarantees the permanently uniform tightening of the cable winch through overlapping wheel sets.
For example, in February 2011 two frigates were in route to the Libyan coast. Their job was to evacuate EU citizens from Libya.
